Why does each child cost more?
Story Gliders isn't a static library — every session uses real AI services that have ongoing per-use costs. Each child generates their own stories, illustrations, speech assessments, and quizzes, so the more children on your account, the more AI we run. The additional child pricing helps us cover those costs while keeping the price as fair as possible.

Text-to-speech narration
Stories can be read aloud with natural AI voices, and for younger readers tricky words are automatically narrated — each synthesis is generated on demand. AI also determines how individual chunks and syllables within words are broken down, helping children decode unfamiliar words more easily.
Speech assessment
When your child reads aloud, Azure Speech Services analyses their pronunciation in real time.
Comprehension quizzes

- Why is there a per-child cost?
- Every child on your account generates their own unique stories, illustrations, speech assessments, and quizzes — all powered by AI services that charge us per use. The per-child pricing means you only pay for what your family actually uses, and it keeps the base price low for smaller families.
- How does parental consent work?
- When you sign up, you confirm in writing that you are the parent or legal guardian, in line with COPPA and PIPEDA. When you start a subscription, the credit/debit-card payment also serves as verifiable parental consent before any child data is collected.
- Can I cancel at any time?
- Yes. There are no contracts or lock-in periods. Cancel whenever you like and you’ll keep access until the end of your billing period.
- What happens to our stories if we cancel?
- Your stories, characters, places, and reading progress stay in your account. If you resubscribe, everything will be right where you left it.
- Can I add or remove children later?
- Yes. Add a new child profile whenever you like and your billing adjusts automatically. If you remove a profile, the change takes effect at your next billing cycle.
- Do you offer school or educator pricing?
- We’d love to work with schools. Get in touch at contact@storygliders.com and we’ll put something together.
- Is my child’s data safe?
- Absolutely. Children’s names are pseudonymised and encrypted, and are never used to generate stories or illustrations. For read-aloud, the story text is sent to our speech provider to be voiced but is not retained by them, and we don’t store voice recordings. See our Security and Privacy pages for the full picture.
- How many stories can we create?
- Stories are generated on demand, so your child can read a fresh adventure every session. Plans include generous monthly fair-use limits on AI creations — set well above what a typical family uses, and there only to prevent misuse. Almost no family comes close; if you’re a super-reader who does, just get in touch.
- Will the price change?
- As a growing product, we may adjust pricing over time. If we ever change your price, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice and you can cancel before it takes effect — and we work to protect early subscribers wherever we can.
